India’s Mirabai Chanu Wins Gold at World Weightlifting Championships

Indian weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu clinched the gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Tokyo, Japan, reaffirming her prowess in the sport and marking a significant milestone in her career.

Mirabai Chanu, a silver medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, delivered a stellar performance in the women’s 49kg category. She lifted a total of 210kg, setting a new world record in the clean and jerk with a lift of 119kg and a snatch of 91kg. Her impressive lifts not only secured the gold medal but also highlighted her strength, technique, and determination on the international stage.
